I haven't finished it yet, but I'm having a great time! Highly reccomend for any and all fans of horror games.. This game is by far one of the scariest games i've ever played, Infliction And Visage have been one hell of an experience so far. This game has made me jump so many times. It's also made me very freakin paranoid, I really recommend this game for anyone that likes getting the crap scared out of them lol. I felt strangely patriotic when I found out the dev was from Australia!In short, this is a great indie horror game, with a few minor flaws. The graphics, atmosphere, music and sense of place are all brilliant, but it was the attention to detail that really blew me away. For example, you can pick up and read pretty much every book and VHS case in the house. If you turn on the TV, there's a full, live-acted community television cooking show for you to watch, and it's hilariously bad in all the right ways. And it's worth checking the TV again before you leave the house for the final time, too.When you're not watching Massimo's Kitchen, the game gives some solid nods to its inspirations (P.T., Layers Of Fear, etc.), but never feels derivitive. The stealth sections were tense without ever feeling cheap, and I never felt stuck on where to head next - despite a fair ammount of freedom in exploring the environments.I only really had two gripes: the facial animations on the NPCs weren't great. One reviewer said the wife was scarier in her non-dead state, and there's some truth to that. The other issue was with gameplay mechanics. At one point, I became posessed, and didn't even realise it had happened. The game only explained this to me after I had already died, which felt kinda cheap. How am I meant to know I can exorcise myself?Still, for a one man project, and a first one at that, this is absolutely worth checking out. Looking forward to see what the dev goes onto achieve next! 11/10, would cook with Massimo again.. One of the best horror games I've played in a while. They really, really set the entire mood of the game to be absolutely terrifying at every moment. I cannot recommend Infliction enough. In a period where there's been a HUGE drought of good horror games this has seriously stood out. At the time of this review, there were a few bugs here and there, but nothing that really felt as though they took away from the experience of the game and things I'm sure will be fixed in future updates.If you like horror, buy this game.. Fun game, very scary.. this is a quite decent cheep thrills type of horror game. out of all the trash in the indie horror genre infliction is refreshing. some of the scares especially at the beginning are elaborate and well done. but do not expect much more. this is no amnesia or outlast and the central gameplay element is infuriating after about an hour of dying to the over powered hell beast any fear you may have had is lost. after this point i mad dashed to finish it and the pay off was pretty poor. if you want at least an hour of great horror game before it falls apart halfway through then pick it up on sale.. to many bugs. i often have to restart the game because suddenly objects are missing or when i pick up a phone for example and i drop it i wont be able to pick other objects. even when i am in a different room i am still picking up that phone. A big thank you to those who posted in the bug report thread and brought some of these issues to my attention. The game is better because of your feedback.More languages are on the way, they’re currently being translated as we speak. I was going to hold this update back until the new languages were ready but I wanted to get these fixes out there now. Infliction update 2.2 contains:Fixes: Fixed a bug where crouching and then un-crouching while examining an object or taking a photo could cause the interaction system to bug out making doors and other objects no longer respond to input Fixed a bug that forced the player to stand if crouched after an object interaction takes place Fixed an instance where the player can get stuck on the trap door Fixed Teledex and books showing double prompts when using game pad Fixed an issue causing subtitles to remain on screen Fixed instances where the inventory was not displaying correctly Fixed a bug that would allow the player to press a button on the game pad during the warning screen to launch the game without being able to see the menu Fixed a few instances of mesh/asset clipping with the environment Fixed an issue were AI pathfinding was inaccurate in one part of the house Fixed an issue where ducking under a wolfs head and standing would cause clippingOptimization Very minor optimisation improvementsChanges Changed subtitles allowing them to show immediately when within range rather than at the start of a new sentence Door code will automatically reset when player disengages interaction.
